High Performance Intakes

Why would I install a High Performance Intake?

In all cases Wimmer intake systems will provide superior air flow.

more AIR + more FUEL = more POWER

Why buy Wimmer Intakes over similar products?
ALL of our killer ORIGINAL designs are made in the USA with American Pride. Our parts are functional and increase the value of your motorcycle. That is why you will find them installed on bikes pictured in magazines, and on show winning customs.

Our parts fit! We pride ourselves in getting it right!

We have a large variety of brackets spacers, breather bolts and options to fit the setup you have. You get everything you need, no need to purchase other components to try and create proper fitment of support brackets, filters, and breathers. We design our components to be “modular,” meaning you can change (reconfigure) elbows, stacks, filters without having to buy a “whole new assembly” (as long as you stay with the same carburetor and motor).

We are continuously developing new intakes please revisit our site often and view our New Parts Page.

Do you have a set up that fits MY bike?

Yes! We have all styles of stacks and intakes for every common motor and carburetor. As well as custom applications.

To name a few:

Motors - Sportster, Evolution, Twin Cam, TP, S&S (113, 107, 124), Merch

Carburetors - CV, S&S, Mikuni, Edelbrock, Fuel Injected Delphi & Marelli

Intakes for VTX Metric bikes ARE AVAILABLE, call for details.

Do I need to rejet after installation?

In most cases you will always need to retune to some degree. Keep in mind more air needs more fuel. You never want to run lean. After making changes, run bike and pull plugs to see how they are burning. They should be a nice “sand color” or light grey. If they are white you are too lean, if they are black you are too rich. Some trial and error is required, however your end results should make it worth the while.

Breathers

What can I do about the messy oil mist I get from my air cleaner?

We at Wimmer Custom Cycle have several solutions to this problem.

We have Top Breather Kits that will vent your heads and trap the majority of oil mist omitted. They have washable replaceable cotton mini filters inside. They are available for all Sportsters, Evolution® and Twin Cam™ motors, Harley-Davidson® and aftermarket. Don't be fooled by other imitators, we hold the patent on these babies! Also beware of offshore knock offs!

TB05-CM top breather mounted to a cross over manifold. Again same applications. Replacement filter part #W09-044

Both of these applications work with the majority of air cleaners on the market, they come with all the hardware and gaskets required.

BPC02 & 03 Billet puke canisters 02 frame mount 03 P-strap mount. In both cases the puke can must be mounted vertically to work properly.

A cross over manifold must be used along with a hose to the canister. We do offer complete kits with cross over manifold , braided line with chrome clamps, and puke can of your choice. We offer all the standard size frame clamps. Units are all show chromed. They also contain a serviceable filter replacement part #W01-034. The puke can offers the ability to hold more oil mist, that can be drained through a standard drain plug or the optional chrome petcock (part #W09-044). We also offer an adapter to mount canister directly to the cross over manifold if ample space (some air cleaners will restrict this usage, call us about your application).

Why would I install Top Breathers?

Your V- twin is a four stroke not a two stroke, you don't want to burn oil in your motor. With most setups the excess oil mist is routed right back into your intake, so you burn this oil. With Wimmer patented Breather units the oil mist never goes to the intake. It is trapped inside by serviceable filters.

Coolers

Why do I need an oil cooler?

Your V- twin motor is an air cooled only motor, yes they are designed to run this way, however cooling your oil will make your motor perform better and last longer. Most stock motors are fine without, but again they give you more oil and will make your motor last longer. Modified motors really need more cooling. As you increase cubic inches and more combustion you add much more heat. You don't change anything to the motor to dissipate this extra heat so a cooler becomes even more important.

Why choose Wimmer oil coolers?

Unlike flimsy radiator type coolers , ours are 100% billet aluminum for years and years of trouble, maintenance free use. They are strong enough to resist any normal road hazards. They also hold more oil than other brands.

How much cooling will I get?

Typically you will get 25 degrees or more reduction with our single tube coolers. Dual applications will do about 40 degrees on average.

Why would I install a dual oil cooler set up?

Some people like the balanced look, installing dual coolers will give you better cooling, plus more oil in your system. Also we have the thin line dual coolers that are a little more custom looking. Keep in mind when installing our single tube coolers that we recommend they be installed with the flow going to the bottom of the cooler and return from the side on both units.

Do I need a by-pass valve for winter riding?

In most cases the answer is no. Most people don't ride their bike in low enough temperatures to worry about diverting the oil from the cooler. However if you are a real cold blooded rider you may want to install one.

What will I need to install an oil cooler set up?

There are several ways to due proper installations.

1. On EVO motors you can tie into your oil system out of the motor and into the oil filter housing. You can use braided line or rubber hose.

2. You may choose to use an oil filter diversion adapter (J4400) with this you can use prefab braided line (R50102)

3. On Twin Cam motors you will need to use an oil filter diversion adapter (J4600) and again the pre fab lines will work.

4. On some Twin Cam models you can tie into the existing lines with a new fitting kit (62870-99) this will work on Road Kings, Ultras, and some Dynas. We have these instructions available or you can get them from your local Harley dealer.

Coolers don't do anything when you aren't moving ... why have one?

Well the truth is they HAVE lowered your temp. while moving , so you can sit in traffic a little longer till the temp rises. And even being static they still disperse heat.

What are the dimensions of your oil coolers?

Please refer to our Oil Cooler Page for all the specs.
